Pentair’s story began back in 1966 with a small team and big ideas. The name “Pentair” comes from the Greek word penta (for five founders) and air, nodding to their original venture—high-altitude balloons! Since then, we’ve grown, evolved, and focused our mission on one thing: smarter water solutions.

Key milestones in our journey:

• 1966: Pentair is founded in Minnesota

• 1989: Annual sales surpass $1 billion

• 2004: Pentair goes all-in on water, acquiring Wicor Industries

• 2018: Spins off the electrical business (now nVent), sharpening our focus on water

• 2022: Acquires Manitowoc Ice, expanding into foodservice water innovation
