At Pentair, we’re all about making water smarter, more efficient, and better for people and the planet. With nearly 10,000 passionate team members worldwide, we’re working every day to create sustainable water solutions that help communities thrive—while protecting our most vital resource.
Who We Are
Water is at the heart of everything we do. From home filtration systems and pool solutions to industrial water treatment and commercial systems, Pentair is focused on moving, improving, and enjoying water in smarter ways. Our goal? To help make clean, accessible water a reality for everyone—while keeping sustainability front and center.
What We Believe
Water is life, and how we use and protect it matters. Every product we make, every decision we take, and every partnership we form is a chance to do better—for people, communities, and the environment. Whether we’re improving water quality at home or helping industries reduce their water footprint, we’re all-in on innovation that makes a real difference.
A Legacy of Innovation
Pentair’s story began back in 1966 with a small team and big ideas. The name “Pentair” comes from the Greek word penta (for five founders) and air, nodding to their original venture—high-altitude balloons! Since then, we’ve grown, evolved, and focused our mission on one thing: smarter water solutions.
Key milestones in our journey:
-
1966: Pentair is founded in Minnesota
-
1989: Annual sales surpass $1 billion
-
2004: Pentair goes all-in on water, acquiring Wicor Industries
-
2018: Spins off the electrical business (now nVent), sharpening our focus on water
-
2022: Acquires Manitowoc Ice, expanding into foodservice water innovation
From the everyday to the extraordinary, Pentair is helping shape a future where water works harder, cleaner, and smarter—for everyone. Let’s build that future together.
